About Us

We first opened our doors in 1969 under the name Glenrothes Motor repairs, named after the founder (Bill Smith's) home town in Scotland. Bill worked as the sole employee for most of his years, working on mainly carburetted vehicles but he would eventually go on to hire & apprentice his son Sean to further expand the business' knowledge and keep up with modern technologies. Over the years, Sean expanded his knowledge and kept up to date with the new era of EFI & modern diagnostics. In 2005 Sean bought the business and eventually grew it to 3 employees.

After nearly 20 years of owning the business, Sean decided to take a step back & sold the business in 2023 to one of his employees, Aaron, who had been trained by & worked for Sean since 2012. 

Aaron & his wife Tarnya have since re-branded Glenrothes into GMR Auto Repairs, a more modern version of an already well known small business. Now with 4 employees to help get your vehicle back on the road quicker.
